Matching Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, also known as Gorakhpur University, is a residential-cum-affiliating University of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Although the university began to work from 1 September 1957 with four faculties of Arts, Commerce, Law and Education, it was officially established in 1965 by an Act of the Uttar Pradesh legislature. Faculty of Science was established in 1958, which was gradually followed the faculties of technology, medicine and agriculture.
